CYSTINOSIS –
A RARE
DISEASE

Cystinosis is a rare, genetically determined lysosomal storage disease. 
Unfortunately, it often affects young children. This film was developed to motivate children affected by the disease to take their medication, which is essential for survival, on a regular basis.

It is very important that children with cystionosis take the medication every two hours. Even at night – which is a huge burden. In Germany, approximately 200 people are affected by cystinosis.

Every year, about three to seven babies are born with cystinosis in Germany. The cause is a genetic defect. This leads to crystal deposits in the cells of various organs and tissues, which impair cell function.
